sauk prairie welcome mural
Sauk City, WI - 2026
My second largest mural to date! This "welcome mural" was commissioned by the Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce and SparkTowns as a riverfront beautification process. I was the selected artist from an open call, to design an inviting mural as visitors and residents cross the bridge to and from the area. I started this design with wildflowers found in the area including pasqueflower, butterfly milkweed, and common blue violets. The iconic bluffs form a scene in the background with a Sandhill Crane watching over. The top corner has a Cliff Swallow and Viceroy butterfly to add to the natural scene and wildlife that lives in the area. This mural is a combination of spray paint and latex that allowed me to fill in the large areas quickly with spray, but add more details with brushes.
I painted this mural over the month of June and beginning of July, fighting through rain and extreme heat a few days. I had a few days of assistance from my mom, Ginny. The best part of the project was the support from the Chamber and the town, along with all the people that came by to talk.
