Bloom in Flight

In partnership with Madison Public Art Project and Noel Development
Monona, WI 2025

Bloom in Flight is a very special mural to me as it marked many firsts. I was selected by Madison Public Art Proejct, a non-profit based in Madison, to design and paint this three story mural for Noel Development's latest residential builiding in Monona, WI. This was my first open call to be selected for and tallest mural to date. This design is based around native flowers that attract pollinators, which includes Butterfly Milkweed, Purple Prince Crapabble flowers, White Snapdragon, Common Blue Violet, and Red Chokeberries. A community survey revealed residents of the area wish the mural pays homage to our native land. On the right side of the mural you can see what some Native Tribes call "The Three Sisters", a planting method of growing corn, beans, and squash together as they support and cultivate each other. This was not only a nod to the land and tribes but to portray a sense of support our communities give us. The bird in the center is a Black Capped Chickadee as a nod to Monona's Bird City status, and is also my favorite bird.
