printed petals

Danville, IN - 2025

This mural on the back wall of The Republican Newspaper is a very special project to me. My dad owns the building and business that is in the heart of my hometown. When I was looking for a wall to really practice my skills he let me have at it! I had complete artistic vision over this wall so I started with flowers that have some ties to what the building houses. I began with the peony as it's Indiana's state flower, then used a chrysanthemum to wish longevity on the paper as it has been running since 1847. The poppies represent remembrance for the newspaper's obituary section. It's always stuck with me that they don't charge for the obituaries to honor the passed members of the county. The rest of the flowers I painted based on their color and shapes to fill in the smaller areas.
