Cashton, WI 2024
This mural project held a lot of new things for me. In 2022 the Friends of Cashton contacted me about creating a community based mural for their town. We went through rounds of surveys, committee meetings, community input, design revisions, and finally fundraising. In May 2024 my mom and I packed up and headed to Cashton to bring this design to life in the heart of town. We had three art classes from the local schools come and paint with us. I worked with the middle and high school students to layout some of the areas and how to paint on such a tough surface with all of the grooves.
To achieve clear legible text my husband made a sign that was attached to the middle of the mural, welcoming all to Cashton. After a week in town, we got rained out, with only a few more hours of work left. Fortunately the weather cleared the following week and I came back to finish up and install the sign.
