The Baker Building, as it's now known, has hosted many different businesses over its lifetime. I worked with the current owners to pay homage to its past lives by incorporating different elements to represent them, including a line drawing of the building itself, flowers for when it was a florist shop, tools for when it was Baker Hardware and a copy of the grand opening announcement for the building in 1903. The stairwell this mural is in is the main entrance and exit for five apartments. I wanted residents to be "greeted" by a bright and happy "Hello" and "Goodbye" as they walked the stairwell.
